Ambassador of Japan in Croatia, H.E. Tetsuhisa Shirakawa, presented Mr. Ivica Maričić, Commissioner General of Croatia for EXPO 2005, decoration "Silver Cups with the Chrysanthemum Crest" (菊紋銀杯三つ組) that was awarded to him by the Japanese Government, on behalf of His Imperial Majesty the Emperor of Japan.
According to the Central Bureau Of Statistics’ data, published by the Ministry of the Sea, Tourism, Transport and Development, in first seven months of 2006 number of Japanese tourists in Croatia more than doubled, if compared to the same period last year.
On September 25th, in the presence of His Imperial Highness the Crown Prince, the 2005 World Exposition was officially closed. The closing ceremony was also attended by the Japanese Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi, President of the BIE Wu Jianmin, Governor of Aichi Prefecture Masaki Kanda, and Chairman of the Japan Association for the 2005 World Exposition Shoichiro Toyoda.
