Japanese Decoration Awarded to Mr. Maričić
Ambassador of Japan in Croatia, H.E. Tetsuhisa Shirakawa, presented Mr. Ivica Maričić, Commissioner General of Croatia for EXPO 2005, decoration "Silver Cups with the Chrysanthemum Crest" (菊紋銀杯三つ組) that was awarded to him by the Japanese Government, on behalf of His Imperial Majesty the Emperor of Japan.
The Embassy stated that the Government of Japan very much appreciates Mr. Maričić’s great contributions to the success of the EXPO 2005, and his devoted efforts to the promotion of friendly and cordial relations between two countries. It is the first Japanese honor awarded to a Croatian since Croatian independence.
The ceremony was held on Thursday, October 12th, 2006, in Art Pavilion in Zagreb, in the presence of representatives of the Office of the President of the Republic, Croatian Government, Croatian Parliament, diplomats, Croatia EXPO 2005 team and many others. Representatives of the City of Hekinan also attended the Ceremony. The Hekinan delegation was in Croatia for final arrangements regarding establishment of the sister-city relations between Hekinan and Pula.
