Croatia Expo

Tourist Presentation and a Concert of the Zagreb Philharmonic Orchestra

The Croatian Pavilion has marked the forthcoming closing of the EXPO with two important events that were held at the EXPO Site on September 9th and 10th.

On September 10th, the presentation of the Joint Tourist Program of Austria Croatia and Italy - European Jewels was held for representatives of more than 30 leading tourist agencies that offer European destinations on Japanese market (JTB, HIS, Asahi Sun Tours, Nippon Express, Meitetsu Kanko Service, J World Travel and others). The project has been presented by representatives of the three pavilions, air-carrier Alitalia and Miki Tourist, one of the leading Japanese tour-operators. From Croatian side, besides the Croatian Pavilion and Croatia EXPO 2005 Office, the project is supported by INGRA Tours, Croatian Tourist Board, Zagreb City Tourist Board and the Plitvice Lakes National Park.

Mr. Dubravko Marić, Executive Coordinator of the Croatia EXPO 2005 Office, on the occasion of the presentation pointed out: - After long preparations, we finally introduced to the Japanese tour agents our final product - the actual and unique travel package that includes the three counties. As we know the Japanese are good guests, and what is most important for us, they travel throughout the year. Presentation was opened by a projection on salt of a movie that follows the itinerary of the tourist program through all three countries. Afterwards, at the Italian Pavilion the agents attended the seminar where all destinations featured in the package were presented in more details. The program was concluded by visits to the pavilions of the three countries and a PRESS conference. More about the tourist package you can find from its brochure.

On the evening of September 10th, the Zagreb Philharmonic Orchestra, conducted by Ivan Repušić, with a violinist Ivo Dropulić, held a concert for the invitees and general public on the EXPO Site. Full to capacity EXPO Hall gave a warm reception to Zagreb Philharmonic Orchestra’s performances of the works of Sorkočević, Bartholdy-Mendelssohn and Dvorak, as well as Croatian and Japanese anthem and Brahms’s Hungarian Dance.
